These Caterpillars are generally small and hairless.
Many feed on ground litter or dead leaves.
Some bear cases, some live in the soil, and some live in
shelters made joining leaves together with silk.
The family
XYLORYCTIDAE was considered to be a subfamily
of OECOPHORIDAE by Nielsen et al., but here following the
later book
A Guide to Australian Moths by Zborowski & Edwards
we have listed it as a separate family.
