This Caterpillar is a cosmopolitan pest, particularly of stored vegetable products. It has even been recorded as boring into the corks of wine and champagne. In the wild, it appears to feed on wild fungi. It grows to a length of about 1 cm.

The adult moth is white with brown markings, and has a wingspan of about 1.5 cms. It has been reported in :

  • Germany,
  • Italy,
  • New Zealand,
  • UK, and
  • USA.

    Attempts to control the pest have used :

  • pheromone traps.
